Kurt and Chris at the edge of the Curtis Ridge, about to descend to the Carbon Glacier. The Liberty Ridge is the obvious line in the center of this photo. Thumb Rock is situated half-way up, where the bare rock of the lower ridge gives way to snow and ice (if you look carefully you can see the shadow cast by Thumb Rock).
