To start with I spent a weekend with my sister Hannah and her family in Johannesburg.  She had invited all our Jo'burg relatives to lunch in her garden in celebration of her recent birthday.

The Brueckner cousins at Hannah's home. From the left:  Martin, Fiona Emby (nee Welch), Mike Hough, Hannah, Paul Hough & his son Ricardo, Helen Ludlow, Mike's son Simon, Kirsten Welch, and James Welch and his son Jonathan.

Almost the same group, but about 30 years earlier.  At the back:  Rob Ludlow, Paul, Helen and Kirsten. In front:  Martin, Fiona, Hannah, my brother Simon, and James.  Some of us have since grown a bit taller.

Next stop was Mom and Dad's  home in Villiersdorp.  This picture was taken in Hermanus, where we drove to for lunch one day.

Next I spent a couple of days in Cape Town.  Here are are my in-laws Berna and Guy Meredith at their home in Bergvliet.

I had a few hours to spare one afternoon so I went for a ramble in Kirstenbosch Gardens (actually a rather strenuous ramble up Skeleton Gorge and down Nursery Ravine).

Next  I drove up to the Cedarberg for some climbing at the Tafelberg  with my friends Paul Setterfiled and Clive Louw.  This picture was taken on the hike up to the Tafelberg .

Sunset as seen from Spout Cave.  From this point one can make out the Atlantic Ocean on the  horizon, almost 100km to the west.

Here I am inside the celebrated "fossilized spaceship" on top of the Tafelberg.

Panoramic view of the Cedarberg Tafelberg and the Spout, as seen on our hike back down.  The cliffs in the middle are over 150m high.

Then it was back to Villiersdorp for a few more days with Mom and Dad.  This picture was taken at La Petite Ferme, a nice restaurant in Franschhoek, where I feasted on warthog and ostrich.

Finally it was time to bid farewell.  and fly back to Colorado.  Here I am with  Mom and Dad at Cape Town Airport.
